Deepest Yearnings
As I follow my deepest joys,
I find that they meet
my deepest yearnings.
I never knew what it was
to do something
because I wanted to.
I was always forced, coerced,
guided, compelled, required.
Being let alone now,
with no other responsibilities to fulfill,
I am able, at last, just to listen.
Listen to my desires.
Listen to who I am.
Honor the sights and sounds
of my listening.
And they are wonderful.
They are beautiful.
They are peaceful.
So these are who I am.
