Young Persons’ Mentor / Uplifting Parenting –
Tasteful Behavior
We learn manners and courtesies in order to express respect for those we are dealing with.
It gives us a basis for common ground as we learn about the other person.
We provide room to get to know someone else and their point of view.
Whether we agree or not, we can respect that it came from their beliefs and experiences.
We can present our beliefs and experiences in a tasteful and respectful manner.
This shows where we are coming from.
We can discuss our opinions and learn from each other.
Communication is important.
We are sharing our space and our culture.
There is room for lots of variety as we discover our individual life possibilities.
We can respect the fact that everyone needs respect and a feeling of worth.
We are able to contribute to one another’s life as we realize this.
We do not live as well in isolation as we do in community.
We are able to accomplish more as part of a community.
Our skills and our ability to learn new skills are an important part of our community.
We all have gifts and knowledge to share and to receive.
We expand our viewpoint and our ability to make a contribution as we value one another.
We welcome the opportunity to learn more and to express ourselves better.
This enlivens our community and gives us more to share and to celebrate together.
It takes people out of loneliness and sadness through isolation.
It defuses tensions when we know and value our neighbors.
We extend a feeling of peace throughout our neighborhood.
There is always room for more caring through attitudes and action.
Getting to know each other brings out our common ground and our common good through working together.
