Comfort of living sustainably

Comfort #31 Comfort of living sustainably

The comfort of living sustainably gives me practical ways to increase my well-being.

In addition to good practices, it allows me to share with my community.

Our unified practice creates a tapestry of earth stewardship.

When we are conscious of how our practices affect the earth we depend on, we can make sustainable adjustments.

We can begin to explore community gardening, rainwater catchment, shared transportation.

We can include everyone in our community.

We have valuable skills to contribute as we learn more about sustainability.

In “The Trannstion Handbook”, the author, Rob Hopkins, talks about moving into sustainability practices as though it is a party, a new way to celebrate.

Through community education projects, people begin to interact.

This is one of the greatest strengths of sustainable living.

When we learn more about the people around us, we can appreciate everyone’s contribution.

Building relationships is one of the qualities of sustainable living.

We move out of isolation in order to do projects which have a community-wide benefit.

It is a comfort to know people with the skills to create community through gardens, seed sharing, small engine repair.

It is a comfort to learn our own skills to contribute through food preservation, sewing, building construction and insulation.

All our needs can be met through living sustainability in community.

This is our great opportunity.

It is a shift in how we view ourselves.

Through connection, with valued skills, with the desire to interact in uplifting and sustainable ways.

When we include everyone, we increase the well-being and sustainability of our whole community.

We can give and receive comfort through our new shared reality as we adjust to caring for the earth.
