     Travel with Children

When I travel, I notice the many families who are traveling with their children.

It is hard for all of us, to be on the move over long periods of time.

One of the ways to make it easier for children is to bring practical activities to fulfill their needs.

I love the idea of activity packs.

When we used to drive for several hours with our children, I used to pack self-contained renewable activities.

I would take the opportunity to invest in some new toys and wrap them as presents.

I gave them something new each hour over a four-hour trip.

    One was an Etch-a-Sketch game.

    Another was Mad Libs.

They also enjoyed Word Search books.

They always had a notebook to write in.

I helped one child write a story of our trip.

One time I packed a bag of activities for a family who would be travelling overseas.

I packed a kaleidoscope, a sketchpad and different drawing materials.

Even though there are electronics for movies, it is good to have some hands-on activities to engage the children differently along their trip.

There are so many word-games and card games to play.

In my childhood we used to play “Twenty-Questions” to try to figure out the object the other person had in mind.

We also played “Hang-man”, filling in the seven spaces to guess the word before we finished  drawing the gallows, the rope and the man.

A fun book of poetry is good to read and to teach the children by having them repeat each line back to you.

Later, they can read it to themselves through memory as a quiet, self-contained activity.

It is good to have a small stuffed animal for dramatic play, telling it stories.

It is valuable to practice these games and activities before traveling so they are familiar.

  • A practice of travel

    Your Diamond Mind –

    A practice of travel

When we desire to travel, we are opening our minds to new experiences.

We look forward to what we may see, taste and learn.

We can begin this expansion mentally, as we study travel books and watch travel videos.

We can try out the feel and sound of phrases in another language.

All of this lays the groundwork for our travel experiences.

When we actually get to a destination, we are immersed in a new feeling.

Some of it may be pleasant, some of it may feel uncomfortable.

As we become accustomed to transportation, grocery stores, the new sights and sounds, we appreciate the contrast to our own country.

The longer we stay in a new place, the more familiar it becomes.

This happens over and over again.

    We adjust.

We also know that when we go to a new place, we  will deal with all the new steps once again.

A practice of travel allows us to be light on our feet, to be ready to change.

We become more alert to those who are helpful to us.

There is a special quality that we feel.

    It is always there.

People feel our receptivity to their culture.

They notice that we have taken the time to learn a few words of their language.

When we make the effort to move ourselves into a new part of the world, we are trusting that we will have a good experience.

I love discovering what is different and what is the same when I travel.

After taking in so many new things, I am grateful for the quiet time to reflect.

I am grateful for the simple connections while I am having a cup of tea and sketching.

I enjoy observing how families interact.

There is beauty everywhere, and comfort and the desire for well-being between all of us.

  • Traveling in peace

    Pebbles of Peace –

    Traveling in peace

I am grateful to have the opportunity to travel, so many opportunities, in fact.

It had been a dream of mine for a long time.

When it began to happen, I was so excited.

Now that I am in a position to travel more often, I appreciate it even more.

I am able to experience more of what interests me in other cultures.

I love discovering history and art and most especially, the little things.

I enjoy sitting in a cafe with a cup of tea while I sketch.

I love hearing the local conversations in languages I do not understand.

I love the rhythm and melodic flow of the different languages.

Sometimes I can hear conversations in several different languages throughout the cafe.

It is fun to hear the waiters address people in the different languages.

It gives me peace to know that there is so much communication across the world, in the little things.

As I gain more knowledge of languages, even on a beginning level, I begin to enter more of the world.

My access broadens my view and I can share it.

I can share it through my sketches, and through the children’s songs which I am writing in different languages as I learn them.

Music is a universal phenomenon, in its’ many and varied forms.

I feel so much peace as I find ways to contribute to a wider view.

The wish and desire of all of us is to live in peace and well-being.

The more we travel and learn from others who go to different countries, the more we can see the values we all share.

We are all interested in sharing the vast resources of the world.

We can all live in peace through sharing.

As we discover our unlimited resources within, we are inspired to find practical ways to share with everyone.

The value of travel is how it unifies us.

  • Travel for ourselves

    Loved Cherished Adored –

    Travel for ourselves

As we plan travel experiences, we are opening ourselves to new ideas.

We want to make sure we are as comfortable as possible as we explore new places.

One of the ways we comfort ourselves is to look for what we all have in common, even in new places.

Although the sights, sounds, tastes and experiences may be different, we all appreciate the same things.

All the people we meet value safety and respect.

All the people we meet are interested in the welfare of all our families.

It is fun to exchange stories and to discover something new and surprising.

It is also wonderful to discover what we have in common.

I love exploring and then reflecting on my experiences.

I love to discover my quiet places of enjoyment as I sketch while having tea at a cafe, or walk through a botanical garden.

Everyone has different ideas for travel, and they are all interesting.

It is enlightening to learn the history of different places.

What influences their art, poetry, literature.

    What holiday celebrations are about.

The special food and their cultural elements.

It is especially interesting to find out how our culture is viewed from outside it.

It lets us know there is more to the world than what we have grown up with.

It shows us that we exist in a larger context.

This is an important aspect of travel as it gives us more consideration of others.

We enjoy our travel as we embrace an uplifting attitude within ourselves.

    We travel to learn.

Others are learning about us as they observe how we react to our new environment, one they are familiar with.

It is especially nice to receive the many kindnesses which are offered all along the way.

  • No Complications

Pebbles of Peace Pathways 3.2 –

    No Complications

It doesn’t really matter does it, except that one is able to move forward?

If you have an idea, and it seems good that it came to you, does it really matter what shows up along the way?

Sometimes, I suppose, it could be support.

    Sometimes, there are obstacles.

But still, you are pulled onward, and given ways to overcome, or go around, or simply ignore, the obstacles.

And sometimes, you have an unexpected conversation, and that gives you support.

    And so you move forward.

There are ways of solving the problems along the way and removing persistent obstacles.

I am learning about all of these.

  • Contribution through balance

    Shared Global Vision –

    Contribution through balance

As we maintain our firm footing and clear thinking at home, we are able to contribute our uplifting attitude in the world around us.

We listen within and bring our peace to any situation we hear about or in which we are involved.

We interrupt the chaos and panic induced by the disasters we hear about in the news, and even the ones which are occurring around us.

There is always an effective path to take in the midst of a fearful situation.

Our habit of listening within keeps us in constant contact with the Divine and Its’ comprehensive care.

Our calm attitude calms those around us and we are all able to think clearly to know what to do.

When we practice this on a daily basis, we are able to engage in discussions with those around us in a courteous and respectful manner.

We are able to share our expectation of harmonious results with our neighbors and friends and associates.

We are able to take our tiny steps to accomplish our goals and to encourage others to do so.

There are always solutions to any problem, big or small.

When we consistently find the solutions to our problems we are contributing that attitude in the world.

We draw to us those of like-mind and enrich our power to find the best solutions.

We engage our imagination and are open to unexpected and innovative ideas.

We engage at the grassroots level throughout our community.

We treat everyone with the dignity and respect we want for ourselves.

In this way, we uplift the expectancy to find solutions because we are engaging with everyone who is affected.

We include all the elements which need to be considered.

We move at the right pace as we introduce new ideas.

We let everyone know as completely as possible how they will be benefitted.

We expand our consideration toward everyone.

We adjust and readjust our solution as we find the perfect balance.

  • Firm Footing

    Young Persons Mentor/Uplifting Parenting –

    Firm Footing

It is important to provide a safe and comforting home.

Our firm footing depends on our own state of mind.

It is vital to get enough rest, a priority, in fact.

Our firm footing depends on our integrity and our irrefutable standards.

There are courtesies in the home, as well as routines.

There are times for patient and understanding discussions.

The reasons for our rigorous standards are to maintain the purity of the home.

Only by doing this can we accustom those who live with us as they grow up to the feeling of balance and happiness and satisfaction through purity.

Our firm footing maintains balance and harmony despite the many disturbances around us.

We acquire our confidence through the results we see on a daily basis.

We are able to quell fears and confusion.

We are able to listen within for our own guidance as we deal with our business situations, while we maintain harmony in our home.

The great variety of experiences and points of view we and our children encounter, provide opportunities for expansion.

Anything which provides additional uplift is welcome.

It expands our ways to experience and share kindness.

We are able to participate in community and school activities and maintain our courtesies throughout.

We respect those in the home and outside of it as we share intelligent discussions.

We work together in community gardens and food banks.

We participate in pot luck dinners at the park.

We help each other organize local cookie and popcorn drives.

We join our local Parent-Teacher Organization and stay in touch with our children’s school.

We are making a daily contribution to society and civilization by our uplifting attitude and calm practices wherever we serve from our firm footing.

  • Best Ideas

    Your Diamond Mind –

    Best Ideas

My best ideas come from inner listening and move into harmonious flow.

I stay in balance through my inner listening and action as I share the ideas which come to me.

I receive them and pass them on to do their good work.

    I act as a transmitter.

I tune in on my individual frequency and the Divine sends out Its’ ideas to me.

I am empowered to act on them in any beneficial way.

As I start my action, I continue to tune in.

Anything which needs adjustment or correction is taken care of through this inner attunement.

I am able to translate that into action which increases the balance and effectiveness of the operation.

I see the results as everyone associated with it is able to relax and to do excellent work.

I am grateful for this communion which results in better harmony.

There is a natural adjustment to the rhythm of the work.

There is greater happiness and greater attentiveness.

    There is no tension.

We do not feel rushed or harassed as we carry out our work.

It is under Divine direction, and the Divine knows how to meet everyone’s need for harmony.

We are all involved in uplifting work to increase the well-being of everyone associated with it.

We have all learned how to listen within to establish and maintain our peace.

We are willing to do this as we experience excellent working conditions.

It is a new feeling, the goal of harmony in all our operations.

Production goals are met through this sense of harmony.

We are open to imaginative and innovative ways of doing things.

We feel a sense of growth and advancement.

It is the best way to share our best ideas.

  • Balance Through Peace

    Pebbles of Peace –

     Balance Through Peace

We maintain our balance through our peace within.

When we feel agitated, we know there is a way to restore our peace.

We release any thought of cause or correction.

We simply let it all go.

We move into a state of peace through our deep breathing and deep listening.

Our trust that there is an answer brings it quickly.

We may be led to take action or to wait patiently.

As we maintain our peaceful listening, we feel the atmosphere around us relax and move back into balance.

We are able to resume our duties in a harmonious atmosphere.

    The flow continues.

There are no interruptions, agitation or disturbances.

We are aware of everyone’s contribution.

We help move all of us into peace and balance.
