I am confident about where I am

Even though I can get thrown off balance by all the new things that are happening, I can return to my deep self.

I know who I am.

I know where I belong.

I am where I belong right now.

As I look at my surroundings and listen within, I can make any changes I need to.

I have what I need in this moment and in all the other moments.

I am confident about my inner listening.

Whatever needs occur for me or anyone in my household, the Universe is already taking care of us.

My steady assurance creates the poise I need in order to think clearly.

I am making wise decisions.

I am taking action in the best way I can based on what I know.

When I know more, I can shift.

I am confident that I can always draw on the resources that are within.

They are considerable.

I know how to create peace for myself in the midst of chaos.

I am in tune with the Infinite.

I am Guided to address the needs of those in my household.

I am able to protect and nurture them in appropriate and effective ways.

I am able to be a good example of listening within and taking action.

My children can trust the answers they receive by inner listening.

They naturally move away from chaos and outer disturbances.

They nurture peace in their own hearts.

Their developing strong character is a constant and ever-present guide.

They gain confidence and definition where they belong.

I can trust the Guidance of the Infinite in their lives.

Know your priorities

When your priorities are for balance, you are committing to your integrity.

Your truth will lead you to a balanced life.

You will be able to balance your household needs for order within your life priority.

Your passion and your delight will always be at the top.

The support you create through household routines and parenting will take care of everyone.

Your value of your priorities will lead you to create balance around you.

Everyone will feel uplifted by the happiness you are creating for yourself.

This will become part of the life they value for themselves.

They will see how their contribution helps everyone achieve beautiful, orderly surroundings, while doing what they love.

They will feel the increased order and balance in the household.

Stresses will not accumulate.

Everyone will feel commited to the good atmosphere they can help create.

Valuing Your High Standards

Once you feel the value of being alone, it is possible to teach this quiet assurance to your children.

Each step you take to discover and guard your own peace leads you to establish and expand your own practice.

The feeling of calm which you carry with you communicates itself.

It allows you to return to the very core of your being over and over again.

It energizes you in a recognizable and consistent way.

You can find safe harbor and provide it.

Each step of peace you practice for yourself carries over to your family.

You carry out your responsibilities with peace, not frantic pressure.

Your household feels the difference.

Your children learn how to do their chores in a peaceful way.

This becomes their practice.

You are able to maintain higher standards through a peaceful practice.

There is something very attracting to a peaceful approach.

It is okay to have a contrast between your peaceful household and the world’s chaos.

You are able to be more observant of the details of your life.

You can attend to them as you raise your standards higher.

Uplifting conversation is an important aspect of valuing your high standards.

It is okay to have a contrast between what is discussed in your household and what your children hear outside your home.

Courtesies always make everyone feel respected.

It is okay for your children to have habitual good manners.

Allowing enough time to do what is important to you lets you attend to your uplifting and calm feeling.

There is no rush when you are considerate of your needs and the needs of others.

Trust what expands your calm and uplifts your standards.

Imagine Genuine Care

Genuinely caring for yourself leads to genuinely caring for your children.

Imagine being aware of your own needs and being able to meet them.

Drawing on ideas from the Universe is always fulfilling.

The atmosphere around you grows calmer.

This establishes a baseline for your children.

You step out the door with your calm, and your children bring calm with them.

You add calm to your workday.

 Your children add calm to their school day.

Your calm allows you to act with compassion.

You are able to move gently through your day.

You compassion comforts in a caring manner.

You are able to sense where there is a need.

You are led to contribute in ways which extend and expand care and calm.

You may plant a garden, or participate in a community garden.

You may participate in a reading circle.

You may set up cooperative cooking.

You may consolidate an errand running service.

You may clean your house in tiny steps and teach your children to do so.

You may prepare nutritious meals for your family.

Everything which you design with genuine care in mind adds to the calm in your life.

Everything which you can contribute through cooperative action helps to expand calm in your community.

Supporting yourself in a genuinely caring way allows you to live calmly.

This is the most effective contribution you can make for yourself, your children, and your community.

Energy of Teaching

We may or may not be involved in formal teaching.

We are all always teaching by example.

We indicate our priorities by what we do.

How we spend our time.

How we speak to one another.

We can teach ourselves new good habits and pass them on through our example.

We can create an uplifting spirit and let it possess us and guide us in all our transactions.

The energy of teaching ourselves a new way to look at the world, and interact in it, is considerable.

What are the little ways I can begin teaching myself new aspects?

I notice my energy in the situation.

Do I feel uplifted?

If not, I can observe my interaction and rewrite my script.

Am I adding uplifting energy to the situation?

If not, I can look at what I am carrying into it and make a change.

I can surround myself with calm energy by taking my first deep breath and letting it spread throughout me.

I can begin to look at my situation with more clarity.

Eliminating the confusion adds uplifting energy.

I can notice what is disturbing or harassing in my circumstances.

I can move myself away from it.

This way, I am teaching myself and my body that I do not have to stay in a place where I am uncomfortable.

I give myself permission to figure out what I love and to do it.

I am teaching myself to value my desires.

I choose to spend my time in joy and happiness.

This is the best energy I can demonstrate.

 Such beautiful children

Given the environment to relax, play, observe, contemplate, reflect, run, jump, children discover who they are.

And without words, they discover that they are beautiful.

They move naturally into their own freedom.

They develop authentic relationships.

They discover what they love to do.

They are able to make choices.

They exchange ideas.

They collaborate.

They share points of view.

They develop skills by practicing what they love.

They invent activities and games with each other.

They pause for reflection.

They engage in individual activity.

They validate what they do by doing it.

They follow through on an activity as long as it interests them.

They discover their own limits and expand them.

They draw on the available resources to enrich their day.

They invest their time joyfully.

They play with exuberance.

They are responsible for their own time.

They live in the moment.

Each day is new and full of possibilities.

They know they are cared for.

They grow up with confidence.

This is what we, their parents, can give them.

Answers Through Trust

I am willing to trust.

So many times, my intuition has led me to safety.

It has led me to know where my children are.

It has guided me through many questions about raising my children.

When I trust myself to know the spiritual nature of my children, I am able to see them as whole and well.

When they were little, this trust and acknowledgement of divine power healed them of colds, flu, chicken pox.

This trust allowed me to understand difficulties in school and to resolve them in unique and appropriate ways.

I was able to support them despite bullying and unwholesome friendships.

I was able to find appropriate answers to schooling.

The requirements of raising children made demands on me beyond my abilities.

In order to find strength and answers, I turned to spiritual Guidance.

This became my habit.

As the world intruded more and more, I began to trust that my children would find their own answers.

I would immerse myself in the fact that they, too, had intuition to direct them.

I learned to trust that their foundation extended far beyond what I had been able to provide for them.

I learned that they, too, have the privilege and responsibility to put their world in order with the best tools that they find.

This has been tough.

I am finally willing to acknowledge that, just as the Universe Which Loves Me has provided answers for me, it is providing answers for my children.

This has released me to go deeper into my own growth and service.

I am not tied to my past and neither are my children.

I am willing to discover my infinite possibilities and to release them to discover theirs.

Unknown beginnings

When you raise your children, you do not know what will ultimately be useful to them as they move into adulthood.

You make sure they have good morals and good manners, and that they have been exposed to art and literature, and that they know how to do their chores.

The world will interact with all that you have taught them.

They will pick and choose over what they keep and what they discard.

They will shape their lives in accord with their priorities and with the pressures which are coming at them from directions you never thought of.

And they will deal with their own lives.

The Universe is taking care of them just as It has been taking care of you.

Everything, ultimately, is unknown.

The best knowledge that we can have about our children is that they have the intelligence to deal with what comes up.

They have their friends, their job skills, their own ideals and priorities.

They have the ability to act and to make choices, and they will not be yours.

The world operates differently for them than it does for you.

It operates according to their perspective.

You may observe, but there is no need to get involved with the lives of your children.

Release them.

Discover what is important to you in your own, new, separate life.

Develop your own new skills and friends.

This is a time which no one talks about, at least not very much.

It is a new time in all of millennia.

The feminine role has changed magnificently.

There are things you can offer which no one has ever been able to offer before.

There are insights which you can bring which have never been seen before.

You are valuable in a new way to a new community.

So deal with your own formidable new life.

The Human Race

It is wonderful to realize that there is only one race, the human race.

We have everything in common with each other, including needs and solutions.

Starting with the physical environment, we all live on the same planet.

I am always impressed with the story of George Washington Carver, who came up with so many solutions.

His deep appreciation of the beauty of Nature gave him his perspective, not the times he was living in.

His ability to discover and share what he observed gave him the ability to create abundance in  agriculture.

He benefitted others far more than they benefitted him.

Overcoming the handicaps of blindness and deafness through the devoted work of her tutor, Anne Sullivan, gave Helen Keller the ability to benefit others of all races.

The seed saving initiative developed by Dr. Vandiva Shiva is benefitting the entire human race.

Nelson Mandela’s resistance to apartheid in South Africa, even though he spent decades in  jail, benefitted all those who were being hurt by it, of all races.

We may be curious about a particular aspect of industry.

Botanical Colors, a natural dye company started by Kathy Hattori, is benefitting the entire human race, through education and its’ products.

As we listen for personal solutions, we are contributing to the upliftment of the human race.

Tama Kieves focused on creating a life she loves and wrote about it after facing despair in her highly educated profession in law.

We see the results, first in our own life, then, in the lives of others.

Nancy Swisher is helping women develop their own voice as a result of searching for hers.

We may be drawn to a group which helps people take steps toward healing in their own lives.

Janet Laird hosts Art for Insight, introducing techniques for managing trauma through art and writing.

We may be drawn to a group which practices high ideals.

Dave Huston started Curious Knights of Coimbra, Portugal, a service organization which picks up trash  in his adopted city.

We may create ways to support people in healing their own life.

I create weekly series of art and affirmations which directs my focus on a healing vocabulary to redirect my own life.

We all have valuable ways to contribute to the well-being of the human race, when we listen within for an uplifting idea.

What a Parent Can Share

My first step each day is starting my day with calm.

I have an orderly routine for myself.

I have prepared for my day.

I have helped my children prepare for their day.

Together, we begin our mornings in calm.

We take our calm with us when we step out the door.

That is our contribution to the day.

When disturbing things agitate us, we choose to return to calm.

When we do not know what to do, we listen within.

We take our deep breath and let it calm us.

We do this until we feel the calm within.

Then we listen for the tiny step.

We feel Guidance through our connection to calm.

The same way we see our parent listen, we can listen.

We can take a moment to feel calm and happy.

We can walk away from a situation which agitates us.

We can choose to move into calm.

We can look up with calm radiance.

We can feel what to do and when to do it.

Our day is not run by bullies.

It is not run by stress.

We have a Power within that assures us.

We feel our complete trust in this Power.

We are surrounded by this Power throughout our day.

We bring calm into our day and have it return to us over and over.

We bring calm home with us.
